May 10, 2008 -- Doggie Dash 2008

Here are some pictures from the day of Portland's Doggie Dash!

One cool thing about this event is that for this one special day, Tri Met opened their doors to DOGS! Usually dogs aren't allowed on the light rail, but it's such a big event that they let dogs ride on the trains for Dash Day! (Normally they will only let dogs ride if they are a service dog..)

He met another very pretty golden named Lila who got on at the same stop as us! She was VERY excited to be riding on the train, and such a sweet little girl.

Parker got attacked by kids on the train at one point! But he didn't mind. He loves kids.  They wouldn't stop petting him and loving him. But how could you really resist anyway?

The Dash took place in Portland, Oregon and there were about 2,500 people and almost as many dogs!

Parker met many wonderful dogs -- big dogs, small dogs, puppy dogs, dressed-up dogs, crazy dogs, old dogs, yappy dogs, smart dogs... He even offered some advice to a sweet little puppy!

We were lucky to have reached our fundraising goal thanks to a bunch of very thoughtful people who sponsored Parker! He gave them a very special "shout-out" -- see a couple below...

We also asked this nice doggy to pose with Parker. Parker was happy to go with her.... at first...

...Until he looked up and saw who'd just had his leash! And then? HE BARKED.

And barked.

And barked.

And barked.

"HEY, YOU'RE NOT A REAL DOG!"

Parker and his family had a good time for a good cause! Hooray for the Doggie Dash!

Parker, 8 months.

Daisy's 4th Birthday!

On July 16, 2008 Daisy celebrated her 4th birthday! Parker got all dressed up for the occasion!

Daisy got a package in the mail from our good friends, Augie & Ti (and their mommy, Donna) and inside was a pretty new collar with pink daisies!!

She also got shout-outs from a bunch of our doggy friends on The Gold Post! Here are a few (Augie/Ti, Dino & Molly):

Here's a short video. There is a little typo in it -- it's her 4th birthday, not her 6th.. but you get the point!

Happy birthday, Daisy!!!

Sophie turns 14!

On November 23, 2008, Parker's big sister turned 14 years old! That's getting pretty up there for a golden! She is doing great and still very happy! We've been blessed to have her for these past 14 years.. We got her in 1994 after our dog, Sundae, passed away. Sundae was the daughter of our first golden retriever, Chere! So really, she links back to some of our very first goldens!! And now she knows Daisy and Parker. It's pretty neat to think about.

Her big day was fairly laid back -- afterall, she's fourteen! Our special friends, Augie & Ti (and their super nice mommy!) sent Sophie a very nice birthday present -- her very own container of homemade dog treats from Double Dog Bakery (our favorite doggy bakery)! Sophie was thrilled. She was so thrilled, in fact, that she ate right out of the canister. Oh, and she shared with her brother and sister. She's a nice old lady!

Parker & Daisy say, "Can we have some?"

Our friends on The Gold Post sent Sophie sweet birthday wishes!
Dino
Dottie & Barrington

Kimba
Ti & Augie

And lastly, one wish from our very own Parker & Daisy.

Happy Birthday, Sophie!! We love you so much!

OHS Doggie Dash 2009

What a GORGEOUS day!! A perfect way to spend your Saturday, walking in the beautiful, sunny 70 degree weather with your faithful companion by your side, and all the while making a difference to so many dogs and cats out there who need homes.

On May 9, 2009 Parker and his family (and friends) walked in the OHS Doggie Dash! About 5,000 people showed up. It was so fun to see so many people who were passionate to make a difference, and who loved their dogs just as much as we do!

We walked 2.5 miles, across 2 bridges along the Willamette River in downtown Portland.

They also opened up the light rail again this year, and Parker got a chance to go on MAX one more time!

All in all, it was a wonderful event, and EVERYONE had a great time!
